African Masks

The students looked at masks styles from the Ivory Coast area of Africa, uses, craftsmanship, and aesthetics. We constructed our own from paper mache and added fabric and yarns for details. We also had a fun African music jam session with various instruments - super fun!

And the bugs have come home!

So my life skills support class glued their bug rubbings onto their crayon resist "habitats".

Henri Rousseau and Jungles

My Life Skills Support classes are still looking at ecosystems in the rain forest and the work of Henri Rousseau. We completed five insect rubbings and a crayon resist habitat where our insects can live...

Here are the habitats.

And the completed posters...

Students are mailing these posters and a letter to President Obama asking for a revision of laws that exclude farm animals from the legal rights of other animals, protecting them from cruelty and restricting factory farms.

We are also mailing postcards to Moore College of Art asking them to use cage free eggs.
