And my Art 2 class completed this assignment using acrylic on canvas board. Scale, perspective, and coloring mixing were the major focus of this assignment.

Van Gogh Reproductions

Art 1 students reproduced Van Gogh paintings using water color pencils. This technique allows them to keep attention to details but also get a feel for water colors.

Winter Still Life

My Art 2 students tackled another challenging still life in watercolors, and learned the water color masking techniques.

Lascaux Installation

My students studied the Lascaux cave paintings, made their own drawings of animals that would have been represented in these caves, and I enlarged them onto ceiling tiles. As a class we sponge painted them in, and now they look GREAT in our hallway ceiling!

Art 2 Still Lives on Display

The Winter Festival

Setting up for the festival required marketing and lots of student help. It was wonderful team work from start to finish!

The winter festival was wonderful - we had a student choir, student performances of music and dance, and student artwork on display. All the hard work well worth it!!

Library Display

This is the display of our Georgia O'Keeffe oil pastels and our autumn and winter themed mono type prints. These assignments encourage a student to build both technical and expressive knowledge of color.

Thanks to the 30 generous donors at Donors choose, my students were able to receive printing supplies and a table top printing press! We are very grateful, and our beautiful Autumn and Winter themed monotype prints are now on display outside our library!

Learning One Point Perspective

Teaching one point perspective is an invaluable tool for students technical drawing progression. Students took a week in the hallway to complete their projects.

Greek Mythology and Vase Printing

After studying Greek vases and some mythology, students created their own prints and then made class vases.

Value study self Portraits

The students chose their medium, paint or colored pencils, for this still life assignment.

We are working on proportion and value studies through still lives.

The Winning Poster

I just found out that my two students who had won first place in a local competition with this poster last year have also won first place in State and placed third nationally over the summer! I could not be more proud of my ladies!
